Mary Coles

It with great sadness that we report the death of Mary Coles.
Our condolences of course go to the family.

Funeral details are below

Tim Coles, Mary’s grandson and Secretary of SMCS writes:

“As some of you may have already heard, my grandmother Mary Coles passed away on Friday (6th). She was 94 and had been in a nursing home for the past seven or eight years. Whilst half-prepared for the news that she had gone to a better place, when it came it was still particularly heart-wrenching for all her family and friends, as I am sure it will be for many of you now.

As well as being a truly wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a stalwart of St Michael’s and Tenbury, just as George had been. Indeed, never has the (para)phrase ‘behind every good man you will find a good woman’ been more true.

The family has now been able to set a date for the funeral – it will be at St Michael’s on Monday, September 6th at 11am followed by refreshments at Cadmore Lodge and then cremation at Hereford at 3pm (for family and close friends). Her ashes will later be interred in St Michael’s churchyard alongside those of George and John.

Andrew Walters has agreed to officiate at the service (with the Tenbury Team assistant minister Sue Foster) and Roger Judd will be playing the Father Willis organ that Mary so loved – massive thanks from all the family to both Andrew and Roger.

The family is asking for donations in lieu of flowers – for St Michael’s PCC (specifically the Organ Fund) and Tenbury Community Hospital League of Friends, of which Mary was a founding member.

Members of SMCS and others who knew Mary who wish to attend the service at St Michael’s and afterwards at Cadmore Lodge are most welcome – if you intend to come along please could you contact me at tim-coles@hotmail.co.uk so that we have some idea of numbers.”
